CHANGE BEGINS WITH SAYING YES TO LIFE :: AN INTERVIEW WITH IRIS G-THRASH, LCSW
The more we participate in life, the more joy we’re going to experience, but also new opportunities are going to come our way that we would never have imagined, ’cause we work so much out of fear.
WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO?
So many times, we are wanting to understand why do we do what we do? Or we’re saying we wanna change something in our lives, but that’s where we stop. You know, we stop at curiosity, and then we don’t put any action into it. And for things to change, you have to do something. You have to move, be it physically, emotionally, relationally. You’re gonna have to make some changes. So awareness is wonderful, insight is wonderful, but if you don’t do anything with it, you’ll just stay stagnant.
SAY YES TO LIFE
Always say yes to life. The more new opportunities are gonna come our way that can be very meaningful to us. I’m always reminding myself, “Remember, every time you have said yes to either an opportunity or a new relationship, or, you know, a new experience, it’s always turned out to be, most of the time, like a peak experience, something amazing. Just kinda remind everyone, “Hey, whenever you have an opportunity to say yes, say it, especially if you think you’re afraid.” If you think it’s not gonna work out and “I can’t do it” in particular, like when you know those thoughts come in like, “I’m not good enough, I can’t do it,” that’s when you just gotta say, “Yes, let me just take a chance and see what happens.”
