CLINICAL TEAM COMMUNICATION
AN INTERVIEW WITH: Dr. David Safani, MD, MBA, FAPA | Medical Director
Interview
WHAT MAKES THE MENTAL HEALTH COLLECTIVE EFFECTIVE?
I think one of the benefits of The Mental Health Collective is that we communicate, a lot, through chats, through other things. We tend to communicate and as a client to patient comes up with issue that they have, we will communicate that to the team. And so, we’ll, the handoff is there, we’ll each be able to go then address that point.
HOW DOES COMMUNICATION SUPPORT MEDICATION MANAGEMENT + TREATMENT?
So in my case, sometimes as a psychiatrist, for instance, you know, I’m dealing with medications, but also therapy. If one of the therapists who’s seeing the patient three times a week can communicate something that they’re finding or noticing… perhaps, issues with fatigue that are interfering or tension or other things… that could help me with prescribing. We tend to work really well together. I think the communication is probably the strongest aspect of our team, and our dedication to a patient getting better. We love challenges. We don’t shy away from them, bring them on. Patients that have been through multiple different facilities, sometimes who have tried every single medication, they’ll say, those are the cases we really feel we can help. And we do, and it’s miraculous and tremendous. We share the grief as they go through it, and we share the, you know, the celebration at the end where things are better.
